Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable documentation, policies and procedures

implements requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective connection and disconnection of reefer refrigeration units including:

applying, organisation and site requirements and procedures

establishing work plans

assessing operational capability and limitation of equipment used

assessing capability and limitation of work processes selected

demonstrates completion of connecting and disconnecting reefer refrigeration units that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

planning and preparing for connect/disconnect reefer refrigeration unit

completing activity systematically with attention to detail without damage to goods, equipment or personnel

assessing need for tagging of unserviceable or damaged units


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in connecting and disconnecting reefer refrigeration units through:

applying legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

risk assessment and management

statutory compliance

work health and safety

identifying hazards and risks associated with power sources

identifying and reporting improvements opportunities to processes

applying safety precautions relevant to the task

identifying site layout and location of reefer refrigeration units

identifying problems in the operations of reefer refrigeration units

identifying reefer refrigeration units requiring clip on units

identifying problems in the operation of reefer refrigeration units

identifying units using marking and number systems

identifying the requirements of work systems, equipment, management and site operating systems

identifying the relationships of work activities and operating systems
